VECTOR IMAGES of MONA LISA

Trial #1

This is my first ever vector image and my first time using Adobe Illustrator. I made this simple tri-colour vector image of the Mona Lisa and I'm quite happy with how it looks. It doesn't contain much detail but I think it still looks recognisable.

I like my use of colours as it mirrors pop-art type palettes and brings a new dimension to the original piece. What I want to do differently in my next trial is to add more detail and to make it look more smooth instead of jaggedy.

Trial #2

I'm very proud of this vector image. Though it's only the second one I've made, I put a lot of effort into making all my layers smooth and accurate. I think it looks very detailed and three-dimensional and the amount of layers I made enhance the image, making it look realistic, with a palette of blue.

VECTOR IMAGES of SELF PORTRAIT

Trial #1

I'm disappointed about this vector image as it didn't end up looking as good as I thought. Because I was wearing my hair up in the photo, I wasn't able to trace the hair around my head, and therefore it made me look like I have no hair at all. Plus I realised that you wouldn't be able to see the white of the flowers without having a coloured/black background. I didn't finish it because I didn't think it would work out so I just left it and moved on.

Trial #2

My second trial went a lot better than my first. I made sure to spend enough time going over a lot of detail and covering all the layers so that it added depth to the image. I think my biggest challenge was managing all the layers and putting them in order so that they would all show up on top of each other, instead of hidden underneath. I am very pleased with the result however, because I desaturated it in the process, it ended up being a greyscale image and I think if it were coloured, it would look better. I played around with the background in Photoshop because I thought it looked a little flat and using mosaic-type tiles, I think it helps outline my body.

Trial #3 - FINAL

Though I was pretty satisfied with my second trial, I wanted to see if I could learn how to make a low-poly vector image, using triangles, and therefore use this trial to make it colourful. I strictly followed the instructions from this website:

http://www.instructables.com/id/Low-Poly-Art-in-Photoshop/step4/Triangles-endless-triangles/

and ended up with this! I'm very very very happy with how this trial ended up and I'm glad I put in the extra effort to learn how to do it. I particularly liked how I increased the contrast in the image, making the shapes more clear and emphasizing the red in my hair more. I also liked that I blurred the blackground, adding more focus and depth to the image. I will definitely do more of this!
